Jakob Garal – Dr.-Eng. and inventor lives in Aachen, Germany.
Was born in 1952 in Chuguev, near Kharkov, Ukraine. Graduated from engineering - physical faculty of Kharkov Polytechnic Institute in 1975 on a speciality „Dynamic and Strength of Machines“. 16 years has worked at the scientific research institute of "Elektortiajmash" plant, in the laboratory of mechanical calculations of large electric machines. Since 1991 lives and works in Germany.
Author of the book "Fair Backgammon Tournament Rules", 14 scientific publications and 3 inventions.
Hobbies - Backgammon, Poker, Bridge, swimming, tennis, skiing.
The numerous prize-winner of various regional Bridge tournaments: Estonia (Tartu 1982 and 1988), Ukraine (Kharkov 1989, Chuguev 1991), Germany (Aachen 1991 and 1994, Bonn 1993-1994).
From 1998 became acquainted with Backgammon and participated in various tournaments. The winner of the Last Chance in "Advance" flight in Nordic Open 2001 in Helsingor, Denmark. The winner of "Net Dinner Consolation" by Nordic Open 2004 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The bronze prize-winner of the Open Championship of Germany 2004 in Altenkirchen. 4-th place in a team of Ukraine in third international tournament of national teams in Cannes „Riviera's Nations Challenge“ in July, 2005. Finalist of Masters Consolation on 19th European Championship in Velden, Austria, Mai, 2007. Winner of the Last Chance Partouche Gammon Tour, Riviera 5 Backgammon Festival in Cannes, July, 2007. Finalist of the Last Chance 16th Mitteleuropa Backgammon Championship in Nova Gorica, Slovenia, August-September, 2007. Semifanalist of Main Advanced Backgammon Tournament on 5th French Open in d’Enghien-les-Bains, Paris, November, 2007
Inventor of a special registration board for Backgammon “BEZMA®” and accompanying “Tournament BEZMA®” software, which allow to registrate all game parameters during the play in a tournament, represent such games in the Internet and save them in digital form for later analysis. In addition, this full-scale game complex (board and software) gives a unique possibility to promote new forms and formats of tournaments proposed in the book "Fair Backgammon Tournament Rules", including team competitions.
Our web-portal is an attempt of more precisious taking into account all playing factors of Backgammon to get it more possible validity and a correctness from the point of view of formal logic in connection of carrying out of tournament competitions. For the first time here is suggested and realized an overlapping of scoring system of victory points used in Bridge with a tournament variant of Backgammon play. Original forms and formats of tournaments, including team competitions are proposed and realized.
